Open Portal is a desktop application and hosted service operated by Open Portal. It captures a part of your screen that you select, sends it to our service, and returns an answer generated by a third-party AI model. Using either the app or this site means you accept these terms.
Accounts are identified by email address and signed in with a one-time link. There is no password. You are responsible for the security of your email account, because anyone with access to it can sign in as you. You can revoke any signed-in computer, or all of them, from your account page.
Open Portal costs $29 per month. New subscriptions begin with a 7-day free trial. Your card is collected at checkout but is not charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then and you are not charged at all.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account page. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that the application stops working — it cannot generate answers without an active subscription, because the model access is provided by our service rather than by the software on your machine. Resubscribing restores it.
We do not provide refunds for partial periods, except where required by law. The free trial exists so you can evaluate the product before paying.
You agree not to use Open Portal to: break the law; capture material you have no right to capture; attempt to extract our credentials or circumvent the subscription check; resell or redistribute access; or send automated volumes of requests. We may suspend an account that does these things.
The images you capture and the questions you ask remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to process them and return an answer. We claim no ownership of anything you capture, and we do not use your captures to train models.
Answers are generated by an AI model and can be wrong. They may misread a chart, misstate a number, or state something false with apparent confidence. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions, and check anything that matters against the source. You are responsible for what you do with an answer.
We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service depends on third parties, and an outage at one of them is an outage here. Where a failure is ours, a capture is not counted against your monthly allowance.
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted, Open Portal is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
You may stop using Open Portal and delete your account at any time by writing to hello@getopenportal.com. We may terminate an account that breaches these terms, or on notice if we discontinue the service — in which case we will refund any period already paid for and not yet used.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
These terms are governed by the laws of Rhode Island, USA, and disputes will be heard by the courts of Rhode Island, USA.
